You can keep these mobile units with the main army (in Company of Heroes, hit 1, hold down shift and hit the other hotkeys, then send move/attack orders) or you can use them as harassment/protection elsewhere. If you are playing wide open maps, try and hotkey a fairly large main force (two to three hotkeys for that force, broken down by range/damage type) and then create another hotkey or two of mobile units.

I find this makes splitting your forces much more managable.Chris, a lot of it depends on the type of maps in the game. Most games will center on your unit when you do this. Sword_9mm - when you create a hotkey and call it up, hit the number twice.
